29 Nov Wrapping up November
And that’s another week in the books.
Last Sunday afternoon, I took part in Crime for Christmas at the Barrhaven Legion, an event spearheaded by Peggy Blair. It was great to get together with the other authors and meet readers, many who had come out last year too. We brought treats and the bar was open ($5 gin and tonic), and the Christmas tunes were playing. You really should have been there 🙂 The crime fiction-writing author crew included (l to r) Wayne Ng, Mike Martin, Barbara Fradkin, Katie Tallo, Amy Tector, me, Don Butler and Peggy Blair.

So I have one more book event this year and it’s next Saturday as part of the Orleans Holiday Arts Market at the Shenkman Arts Centre, 245 Centrum Blvd, Orleans. Don Butler and I will share a table from 10:00 to 1:00, at which time Mike Martin and John Delacourt will take over. And that will wrap up my appearances for 2025!
I’ve spent the bulk of this week going through the edits from Shannon Whibbs on my Stonechild and Rouleau manuscript, making some changes of my own as I go along. There aren’t any major revisions, but some little stuff that affects other passages like a game of dominoes, and so it goes. I’ve been through the entire book once and am on the second pass through, which I expect to have completed today.
November is drawing to a close and the holiday season begins. This is the hardest month to concentrate on writing, but I’ll manage to get in time when I can. I’ve got this weekend at least to dedicate to writing projects, in between addressing Christmas cards. We needed to buy a new stove this week, so I’ll be giving that a workout soon when I begin the Christmas baking. Luckily the old stove gave up the ghost a month before the big day.
Have a good week, everyone. Looks like the big snowfall is bypassing Ottawa this weekend, but it’s just a matter of time ….
