06 Dec The Last Event of 2025!
Well the weather outside is frightful … ly cold. Winter has landed in a frigid heap.
So today is my last book appearance of 2025! I’ll be with Don Butler from 10:00 to 1:00 at the Shenkman Centre, 245 Centrum Blvd, taking part in the Orleans Christmas Craft Sale. Mike Martin and John Delacourt will take over the table from 1:00 to 4:00. We’re located on the main level for any of you who might want to come by.
I took last weekend off the book-signing circuit and focused on editing the Nobody Tell manuscript, going through editor Sharon Whibbs suggestions and comments. I’d no sooner turned that in than I received the short story I’d written for an anthology (theme of monsters) with a copy writer’s edits to go through. Those didn’t take long, but it was another morning’s focus. I now need to get back into the Hunter and Tate manuscript, which is closing in on 40,000 words (about half-way done). But in amongst all this, Christmas needs getting ready for and we have other family things in the hopper.
Speaking of Christmas, I spent a fun afternoon shopping with a friend in Hintonburg and Westboro, buying local. We have so many interesting shops along Wellington and Richmond Rds., with gift ideas for everyone. Shopping local helps small businesses stay afloat, and I highly recommend supporting the shops in your neighbourhood. It’s so much more festive to be outside than in a mall, walking from store to store, stopping for hot chocolate, watching the snow fall.
My book club, which meets monthly, has come up with a book-selection idea that might appeal to other clubs. We’ve landed on book genres as our choice. First was biographies/autobiographies, This led to historical fiction and our next month’s choice, Scandinavian noir. We like to buy the books and will exchange ones we recommend. It’s a great way to be introduced to many new authors.
I’ll end here as I’m soon heading out the door to the Orleans crafts sale. I hope to see you there!
Good week, everyone.
