Staying Busy (Again)

Staying Busy (Again)

Happy Saturday, everyone!

This past week, I resumed chugging along on my latest Hunter and Tate manuscript, now zooming in on 46,000 words. However, I had a few interruptions 🙂 I finished my review of the Nobody Tell manuscript last Saturday and submitted it to my Dundurn editor, Shannon Whibbs. The proofs will arrive in my email inbox on January 30 and I’ll have until February 10 for one last look. The back cover text showed up later in the week for my review. Finally, the short story I wrote for the Dundurn anthology arrived again and I reviewed it one final time. All in all, three projects on the go with two entering the final stages.

Jennifer, owner of the Book’s Better bookshop in Smiths Falls sent along a poster for my upcoming February visit for a signing and book club. If you would like to attend the book club, pre-registration is required.  You could phone the store if you can’t find the link to register.

My book club met last evening and our selection last month was Scandinavian noir. Some researched the genre and everyone enjoyed their selection. In addition to the novels I’d already read, I began The Bat, first in Jo Nesbo’s Detective Harry Hole series and am about a third of the way through. Nesbo is quite famous for this series and I can see why. The writing is great with lots of humour thrown in and Harry is intriguing. In this book, he leaves Norway to assist with the investigation into the murder of one of their young, female citizens in Australia. I’ll continue in the series to see where book two leads. For our next meeting, we selected a ‘Canadian classic novel’ as the category – we can choose whichever book we like and then talk about it when we next meet up. For some reason, my book club really enjoys this format over picking one book.

I’ll not be blogging next Saturday because I’ll be at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts national bonspiel in Mississauga. Our daughter Julia is skipping the Nunavut team for the second year and we’ll be cheering her on. You can catch the games on TSN, although last year, they only showed highlights of the Nunavut games. So I’ll be back chatting about my writing life at the very end of January. Until then, happy reading, stay warm, and happy travels for all those of you taking southern vacations.

Go Team Nunavut!!
