20 Mar Spring has Sprung
Happy first day of spring! The weather is warming, the sun is shining, the cardinals are singing … goodbye frigid winter nights.
The tulips at Dow’s Lake a few springs ago. Not much longer!
To temper our spirits, Ottawa moved back into the red zone this week with our Covid case count on the rise. This doesn’t impact my life much since I’ve been staying close to home, but the rising numbers across the province and country are concerning. On the happy front, our neighbours across the street got their vaccine shots yesterday although they had to drive to Kingston to get them. We haven’t fit into any of the age categories yet and are still waiting patiently.
My interview with author and emergency room physician Melissa Yi is now up on the Crime Writers of Canada site. It’s a fun interview if you have a chance to view. I interviewed retired RCMP officer Norm Boucher on Wednesday, another interesting one. Norm’s book Horseplay: My Time Undercover on the Granville Strip is based on his undercover work infiltrating the heroin trade in Vancouver in 1983. This interview will be posted toward the end of the month.
It was also my Monday to blog on 7 Criminal Minds blogspot. The topic this week is how the pandemic has impacted on our writing output. You can access my response here and read all the responses from my fellow bloggers.
Writing slowed this week but I wrote a chapter on my way to wrapping up the story. Instead of writing, I got my tax receipts organized and everything in to our accountant. It sure feels good to have that task out of the way. I also continue to go through old papers and files in my office with the shredder working full out. Ted is nearly done painting and I’m liking the new grey colour. A fresh look for spring 🙂
Well, we’ve got a lovely day underway. I hope you are able to enjoy today while continuing to safely socialize outdoors. We’re into the last stretch of all the restrictions as the vaccine rolls out, but we have to stay vigilant. Come summertime, we should be able to raise a glass together!
