So Long February

So Long February

And that’s a wrap for February – the days are flying right along.

Wednesday, Ted and I drove to the Rockland Public Library through the snowy evening so that I could visit their book club. Rockland is about a 50-minute drive, heading east past Orleans. I received a warm welcome and spent about an hour talking about my writing and books with many good questions thrown in. It was well worth the drive to spend time with these lovely people. The snow storm had picked up on our way home, but we arrived safely without incident. The next book club visit is in Kingston, but it will be a Zoom meeting.

I got some writing in this week on the Hunter and Tate manuscript, but am working on a difficult scene and it’s taking a while to try to get it right. Sometimes, I just need thinking time while I mull over the plot, and this was one of those weeks. I also completed the Nobody Tell copy edit review for Dundurn and that took most of Sunday afternoon.

My own book club met last evening and our topic was a Canadian classic. I reread Atwood’s Cat’s Eye, that I first read in university or thereabouts.  I remembered bits and pieces, although not the entire work. I have to say if you’ve never reread a book from your youth, it’s a good exercise. You bring more life knowledge and perspective and the book can be a completely new experience. Next month, we’ve chosen any Reese’s pick as our genre. Should be interesting to see which books get selected.

I use a program called Book Brush to create ads and this week, I watched a video to learn how to use more tools. I’ve enrolled in this program for the past several years and figured it was time I got beyond the basics. My latest effort is below. I’ll search out more videos to continue upping my game 🙂

Another cold day out there in the Ottawa Valley. March begins tomorrow and spring will be in the air. We’ve nearly made it through another long winter!

Have a great week, everyone.
