Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful

Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful

And just when we thought we were well into spring … bam… a snowstorm hits followed by a full day of freezing rain. We were this close ….

I got in lots of writing this week and finished the first draft of this latest Stonechild manuscript. That gives me two months to edit, rewrite, and pull it all together. Just to get my heart going, the editor assigned to my project sent an email saying the manuscript deadline was May 1st, but agreed the next day that she’d been mistaken, and I had another month. June 1st means a lot less pressure! I’ve spent the last few days lightly editing while making chapter notes. So far so good.

I took a break on Wednesday and met Anita Manley in the Glebe at a coffee shop. Anita spearheads Blues for Youth, a fundraiser linked to the Royal Ottawa Foundation to support youth mental health. They hold a music event, at Irene’s Pub the last few years, with some terrific musicians – this year will see the event in a larger venue, the Gladstone Theatre, so more room if you’d like to buy tickets. Here’s a link to find out more.

I’ve got a few events coming up and will update the front page of my website this week. The first, is Books on Tap, which will be a fun afternoon at Kichesippi Brewery (2265 Robertson Road) with a number of other authors writing in various genres on Saturday, May 3 between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. You can drop by to buy beer and a book 🙂

Looking a bit farther ahead, I’ve just confirmed a signing at Chapters Rideau on Saturday, June 14 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. – they currently have the Hunter and Tate series in stock if you’re looking for a copy of any books in the series.

And of course, the launch of Who Lies in Wait is coming up – Thursday, May 22 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Ottawa Curling Club. It will be a party! Perfect Books will be the bookseller on site. Thanks to Sylvia McConnell for creating this electronic invitation.

So time to get this Saturday underway. I intend to spend it inside and out of the snow and freezing rain. We might even put on a fire and break open a bottle of wine later this afternoon. When you’re given lemons …
