15 Nov November Signing
Good Saturday morning, my friends. It’s an overcast, freezing rain kind of week, but won’t let grey November skies get us down.
Today, I’m signing books at Coles Carlingwood from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and hope you can come by and say hi. It’s getting on to Christmas shopping time, and books make a nice gift, if I say so myself. When my daughters were young, I always put a book in each of their stockings. I loved checking out the bookstore to pick the perfect read. To this day, I ask for books for myself and note that they do too 🙂

Last Saturday, I picked up Don Butler (who lives a few streets over) and we made our way to Kichesippi Brewery in Belles Corners to take part in a book signing/sale organized by Peggy Blair. It’s such a lovely spot to spend an afternoon, and we met some fine readers. I also picked up a six-pack for Ted, who likes when I visit the local beer establishments.

I got in some writing this week, but not as much as I would have liked because life got in the way. I imagine this will be the story for the next while as we prepare for Christmas with all that entails. Shopping, baking, socializing, gift-wrapping … it’s all good. Shannon, my Dundurn editor, has let me know that she’s close to done the first go-through of Nobody Tell, so that’s heading my way soon. Happily, she says not many big changes, but it will still take me a while to get through again. She said that she’s enjoyed the read and hasn’t figured out whodunnit one hundred pages from the end. (puffed out chest, feeling very clever with my old self).
And the days zip past. Are you finding time speeding up like I am?
So I killed off a character this week that has me and the other characters in mourning. It’s in the fifth Hunter and Tate book and I’m still trying to make certain this is the right way to go with the story. It feels right to keep the plot moving along, but man, I hate saying goodbye. You’ll need to let me know how it lands with you when the time comes. I don’t want death to come lightly, even if fictional, so if you’re moved, this will mean I’ve succeeded. I know that I’m a bit traumatized.
I’ll be at Coles Carlingwood in a few hours and two more events on my horizon. I hope to see you today, but check in next week to see where I’ll be next Sunday.
Good week ahead, everyone!
