Meeting Readers

Can it really be the end of October already? I’m not ready for November, a month I usually have to work to stay positive during – grey skies, chilly temps and snow being the norm. I’m not sure what to expect this year after this past week of 20 degree temperatures, which while lovely, is definitely abnormal. On va voir.

So two events since I last blogged. Last Saturday, I spent a couple of pleasant hours at the Granite Curling Club where two book clubs united to ask me about my latest book, When Last Seen, and my writing. They had terrific questions in addition to coffee and baking, and the time flew by. They gave me a beautiful bouquet of flowers that we’re still enjoying!

Monday evening, I drove to the Beaverbrook branch of the Ottawa Public Library to speak at the Canadian Authors Association meeting about my road to being published and my writing. It was great to chat with Arlene Smith, the chapter’s president before the meeting began. Everyone was engaged and friendly and many stuck around to chat afterwards. A most enjoyable evening.

And also this week, my interview with Lakehead University alumni for their magazine Journey was released, and it’s one of my favourite interviews. It was so special to be interviewed by my alma mater – I never would have believed this would happen when I was a student all those years ago! They made my story the feature and I’ll be on the cover of the printed edition. They also made a few videos that will be released soon. Anyway, you can read the article here!

This past week, I received Allister Thompson’s edits for Fatal Harvest and have started going through them. I expect it will take the rest of this week to complete the review. The writing on book four will go on hold while I put on the editor’s cap.

This morning, I’m heading out to visit another book club, which is not far from our house, a few neighbourhoods over. They’ve also read When Last Seen so I’m looking forward to their comments and questions. I’m also told there will be coffee and baking – can’t beat these book clubs 🙂

Another busy week behind and ahead. I hope you also have a fun-filled, fulfilling week. Onward into November!
