15 Mar Making Plans
Good Saturday morning.
It was another busy week on the writing front. First up, I confirmed a book launch for Who Lies in Wait at the Ottawa Curling Club on Thursday, May 22 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The manager, Dalal, offered to host and bar tend, so it should be a great party! My friend Fred Taylor will be the photographer as he has so generously been for all of the last launches, and a good friend has agreed to be emcee … more about that to come! Perfect Books will be the bookseller as they have for the last few launches as well. Last launch was in fact at the Perfect Books shop on Elgin, but there was limited space. The curling club offers a lot more room – it will be a party!
Yesterday afternoon, an American author named Debbi Mack interviewed me for her podcast Crime Cafe. Debbi is so popular that authors wait a year or two for a booking on her show! We had a good chat and the experience was most enjoyable. As part of my appearance, I submitted a short blog post, which included a snippet from the upcoming release, Who Lies in Wait. You can also enter to win a Kindle copy of the book. The ebook can also be pre-ordered on both Amazon and Kobo.
The first trade review is in and it’s a good one! Here is a snippet …

I continued to work on the Stonechild book eight manuscript, now approaching 62,000 words. I’ll try to have the first draft completed this week, which will give me two months to tinker and edit … and I need to do a lot of both.
A couple of Chapters stores have reached out to book signings, and I’ll line them up for June and July after the launch. I’ve also been invited to take part in the St. Lawrence Writers Festival on September 7th in Brockville. This is the first festival and will take place over three days. Here is their Facebook link to find out more information and to keep up to date on the schedule.
It’s beginning to feel like spring in the Ottawa Valley. We’ve had above-freezing temperatures and the melt is on. Nothing like sun and warmer days to raise the spirits. It won’t be long before we’re back in the garden!
Good week, everyone.
