“Man, I miss summer. It’s my favourite season,” I said to Ted as we sat in the fading sunlight on the back steps, sipping a glass of wine before supper.
“You say that every change of seasons. Every season is your favourite season.”
Do I really say that?! “Now that I think about it… although I don’t like winter when it sticks around too long.” Does make a good conversation opener though.
Ahh, mon pays, Canada. Our glass is more than half full.
So much going on this week!
For starters. I’m heading to the Almonte Public Library for one o’clock today to talk about my writing and to read from Blind Date. This will be my first in-person event since the start of the pandemic. Please let this be the start of something good 🙂
Also some terrific news from Dundurn — they will be making audiobooks of the last five Stonechild and Rouleau books and reissuing the entire series with new covers! Such a big project and I can’t wait to hear the narrator read for this one. It sounds like it will be a new person to voice the last five.
On my new series, Heather Williams is already started on recording When Last Seen. The goal is to have the paperback, ebook and audiobook all released on the same date — April 1st! I just received the final cover design and plan to show it to you once my web person has a chance to update my website.
I spent the bulk of this week going through When Last Seen again, this time focusing on the timing of everything. For instance. making sure the days of the week line up – if Monday is two days away, it has to be Monday in two days – that kind of thing:-) Â I’m also doing another quick copy edit although not finding much to change this time around. Could I really be able to lay this one to bed soon? Now that would be a huge weight off.
As a result of editing, I haven’t gotten any writing in on the third book in the series, but I tell myself to be patient. Not much longer and I’ll be able to focus. For now, ideas will have to percolate.
I’m involved in another one-day event, coming December 1st. There’ll be some terrific interviews and panels and you can register early for $15 (MapleLeafMysteryConference@gmail.com). I’m scheduled for a noon panel and the topic is writing police procedurals. Should be a fun day.
