19 Apr Happy Easter!
Easter weekend! The sky has been grey, and the weather rainy this long weekend here in Ottawa as I type. We’ve had a cool, wet April so far, but the heat has to arrive sometime. I’m looking forward to cleaning out my garden, but as advised, am waiting for temperatures to get about 10 C for a week to give the bees and other insects sleeping in the debris a chance to survive.
I completed my first complete edit of my latest manuscript, including outlining each chapter on post-it notes. That leaves six more weeks before it’s due at Dundurn, and I’m hoping to get through two more read-throughs. This second time around, I’m doing more tinkering with the text, adding detail where required. To find out more about my process, check out my Monday post on 7 Criminal Minds blogspot.
I dropped in at Chapters Coles a couple of days ago, and discussed setting up a signing in June, and they also suggested choosing Who Lies in Wait for their monthly book club. I’ll post the dates and times on the main page of my website once things are set up. In the meantime, I’ve got two events on the near horizon:
Saturday, May 3 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Books on Tap – I’ll be one of a number of local authors at Kichesippi Brewery at 2265 Robertson Road – come buy a beer and a book!
Thursday, May 22 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. the Ottawa Curling Club (440 O’Connor Street) will host the launch of Who Lies in Wait, 4th in the Hunter and Tate Mystery series. All welcome!
So, I’m still keeping a low profile, at my keyboard editing most days. I also managed to finish preparing everything for my taxes and got that in to the accountant – always a big sigh of relief when that’s done.
But for this Easter weekend, a bit of a break before getting back to work. I wish you a lovely holiday with family and friends with a bit of chocolate along the way.
