11 Oct Giving Thanks
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends! We are celebrating this evening with family and friends since this is the only day everybody is free. Ted will be cooking a turkey on the barbecue and we’ve got a bit of a potluck going on – I won’t complain! I hope you also are getting in a meal with friends and/or family. We will be ten, so a good-sized gathering.
This week is the launch of A Capital Crime anthology, featuring 21 crime fiction stories by Ottawa authors with all set in Ottawa. I’ve got one in there called “The Success Story” set in Westboro and Wellington West. The book will be released October 15 with the official launch October 16 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Club Saw, 67 Nicholas Street. All are welcome. The book has been getting some terrific reviews and media coverage.

I got in some writing this week but not as much as I would have liked. We’ve been having such beautiful weather that it’s hard to stay inside Still, I’m heading up toward 24,000 words. A ways to go yet. On Monday, the Kitchissippi Times photographer came by and spent the morning taking photos of me in the backyard and down the street in front of a long row of tall, yellow flowers. He took enough that one should turn out! The article is planned for the November issue.
A librarian from Rockland Public Library also was in touch this week and invited me to their book club. We decided on a January date. She discovered my books from the excerpt in the Ottawa Citizen this past summer. The Zoom book club evening with the Terrace Bay Public Library is coming up in a few weeks as well.
So time to go make cranberry sauce and get this Thanksgiving Saturday underway. I intend to spend tomorrow and Monday cleaning out the rest of the garden and flower pots – not sure I’ll hit my writing target this week. Sometimes, you just have to let life happen 🙂 Wishing each of you a wonderful weekend!
