12 Oct Giving Thanks
Such a week.
I received my manuscript back from my editor Allister Thompson and not too much major to work on. Lots of little edits (commas), but I’m going through the text slowly and have about 80 pages left to review. Allister said I could share his critique. He writes, “I find the story complex, compelling, and it further develops the various characters and their arcs. So, well done!” Next up, the cover and cover blurb. I’ve yet to reveal the title … stay tuned!
So, today I’ll be doing my first autumn bookstore signing at Coles Carlingwood. Please come by if you have time. I love seeing your smiling faces. I’ve got lots more events coming up if you’re looking for Christmas gifts.
I’ve supported a few worthwhile charities over the years and have teamed up with Blues for Youth the last couple, donating two of my books and a bookclub visit. You can check out all the silent online auction items at this website and place a bid, including for me to drop in on your bookclub if this interests your members – I can even do a Zoom bookclub visit. Some great items and the money goes to prevent youth suicide. My hat is off to Anita Manley, the driving force behind this initiative.
So my writing slowed down as I put on my editing hat this week. I’ve also spent a lot of time cleaning out the garden – I had about 30 flower pots to empty and clean. Thank goodness we’ve had some sunny, warm days because I come inside with my clothes soaking after hosing down the pots. I’m down to my last three and feel a great sense of relief along with an aching back.
