24 Feb Getting On With It
We woke up to one of the coldest winter mornings of the year after record-high warm temperatures all week – such strange yo yo weather in Ottawa this February. Even my characters have begun dreaming of getting away on holidays to tropical beaches.
I met my writing goal this week, even surpassing it as I round in on 19,000 words. The characters are starting to fill out and become more rounded as the suspense and danger begin ramping up. The setting is dead of winter — the kind of winters from years past with frigid temperatures and mounds of snow. Hopefully, this won’t be classified as fantasy fiction in the future.
So, I’ve lined up another book signing at Coles Carlingwood on Saturday, June, 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. They’ve also ordered in copies of Fatal Harvest for the April 15 release date. If you can’t make the May 1 launch at Perfect Books, you’ll be able to catch me in several other locations at various dates, all of which are updated on the main page of my website.
This week, a seniors group invited me to speak in June at a church not too far from my neighbourhood. The group is called ‘Coffee, Company and Conversation’, which happen to be three of my favourite things. This is promising to be a busy spring on the book front!
If you missed my 7 Criminal Minds blog post this past Monday, the topic was a book I found surprising. I actually chose two and you can read about my picks here. You can also discover the surprising choices made by my fellow bloggers.
So this week, I intend to try to keep up my word count on this latest manuscript (check back next Saturday morning to see how I did), and I have some marketing and book-keeping tasks to keep me busy. I have to say that this book-writing gig keeps me from ever being bored.
Stay warm, stay cool, stay dry, stay hydrated … and most of all … stay happy. Have a great week, everyone.
