Frost on the Pumpkin

Frost on the Pumpkin

We’re nearing the end of October and life is getting busier.

Today, you’ll find me at Coles Bayshore from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., signing copies of my books, which make good stocking-stuffers if I say so myself. Apparently the store is pretty much sold out of the last batch of books! (Please note that the time was originally 1:00 to 3:00, but the store manager advertised this new time, and I’m happy to oblige.)

Sunday, I’ve been invited to a book club, which will meet at the Ashton Brew Pub to discuss Fatal Harvest. Much of the story is set in and around Ashton, including the pub, so this should be a blast. Sometimes this writing gig is a heck of a lot of fun!

I’m also pleased to report that a generous person bid $50 in the Blues for Youth, supporting youth suicide prevention, silent auction to have me visit their book club. The auction is now closed and the final tally for the fundraiser will soon be revealed.

So writing update: I completed going through Allister Thompson’s edits and sent the manuscript to my next editor, Susan Rothery, who gives the text a thorough going over. I’ve also sent information to cover designer, Laura Boyle, to get that started. The editing takes my attention away from writing, but I’ll be getting back to that this upcoming week. I also need to update my bookkeeping grid.

I finally finished putting my garden to bed, including emptying and washing about thirty flower pots. We’ve had such a gorgeous, warm October that I had to convince myself to throw out plants, but now, as expected, I’m pleased I did. The temperatures have dipped and frost is on the pumpkin every morning. The tree colours have been particularly exquisite this past week. Let’s hope the snow is a ways off yet.

Have a good week, everyone.
