Crime for Christmas!

Crime for Christmas!

Good Saturday morning.

And tomorrow is the big day – Crime for Christmas will be happening at the Barrhaven Legion between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m.! Your one-stop shopping spot for mystery book stocking stuffers, not to mention delicious free goodies and a bar where you can buy a drink if you’re so inclined. We had a great turn out last year (the inaugural) and it’s a lovely way to get into the season of cheer.

Last Saturday afternoon, I visited my neighbourhood Coles in the Carlingwood mall for a signing. I sold lots of books and met some really nice people, including a woman who bought the entire Hunter and Tate series for her sister as a gift. She said they had my Stonechild series at the cottage and these would also find a home there. It never ceases to amaze me at how generous and supportive complete strangers can be.

My writing picked up this week on the latest Hunter and Tate as I home in on 40,000 words. However, the Stonechild manuscript arrived on Thursday with Shannon’s edits and going through them will take precedence for the next week or two. I knew this was coming and am prepared to get on with it.

Also this week, I received another invitation from a Kingston book club to attend their December meeting via Zoom to discuss Cold Mourning. Unfortunately, I cannot make the date so they’ve invited me to their April meeting to talk about Butterfly Kills, second in the series. Since most of the books are set in Kingston, this should be lots of fun.

And that’s all my news for this week. If you have the chance, come out to the Barrhaven Legion this afternoon. It promises to be a great time, and you can meet some of Ottawa’s finest mystery writers and get signed copies of their books for your own reading or gifts. I hope to see you there 🙂
