Books and Beer

Books and Beer

After my blog post last Saturday morning, I learned that Fatal Harvest was shortlisted for Best Crime Novel Set in Canada, a Crime Writers of Canada (CWC) award. CWC is our national crime-writing organization. It was lovely news to have the book recognized in this way. Thank you to everyone who sent along congratulations and best wishes – each one warms my heart.

Today, you’ll find me and several local authors at Kichesippi Beer Company (2265 Robertson Road) from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. – come by and check out the books while you sample the beer. Should be a fun afternoon.

Who Lies in Wait launched May 1st in stores although my actual launch will be Thursday evening, May 22 at the Ottawa Curling Club. I’ve decided to bake cookies for the event and got a start this week, freezing them as I go. It breaks up the editing as I start on round three of the manuscript due at Dundurn on June 1st. This one is titled Nobody Tell and its release date is January 2027.

I received another book club invitation, making two this month. This one is in my neighbourhood and they’ll be discussing Butterfly Kills. Been a while since I wrote it, so I’ll need to give it a quick scan. It’s odd how you can labour so hard over a book and then forget what’s in it as time goes by. The other book club I’ll be visiting later in the month is in Ottawa South and they’ve sent along some great questions for me to review ahead of time.

So a lot going on this spring! I’ll leave you with a blog post I wrote Monday for 7 Criminal Minds. This week’s question asked about … questions. Best, worst and yet to be asked. You can check out the link here.

I hope to see you at the brewery in a few hours or on May 22nd for the official launch!
