26 Sep Back in the Groove
What a gorgeous stretch of weather we’re having in the Ottawa Valley. If only it could last!
I had a busy week of events.
As I reported last Saturday, Wednesday evening saw the launch of A Capital Mystery 2 at the Metropolitan. Then, Saturday morning, Don Butler and I made our way to the Casselman Library to take part in the Eastern Ontario Writers Festival, which brought together 45 vendors and authors. Again another pleasant afternoon meeting new readers and other authors. It’s the third year for this initiative made possible by an enthusiastic and welcoming group of volunteers.

Sunday morning, bright and early, Katie Tallo, Tamara Miller and I made a road trip to Station Theatre in Smiths Falls for the first-ever Smiths Falls Literary Festival. The theatre was once the town’s train station and is simply a beautiful old building. Local radio producer Bob Perreault moderated our mystery panel with the Book’s Better selling our books in the lobby. It was a good crowd with interesting questions and a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning.

And that wraps up my September events!
With time on my hands after Sunday, I began writing the sixth Hunter and Tate manuscript this week, hitting a thousand words in the first chapter. I’d been mulling over the plot and thought it time to get something down on paper. I find myself at loose ends when I don’t have a book or short story on the go. Once again when I was out and about at these last events, strangers came up to me and said how much they enjoyed my books – you can imagine how motivating this can be. Combined with the emails I receive from readers, this feedback keeps me from hanging up my pen! (Plus I still love writing 🙂
So in the week ahead, I have a Zoom meeting with the Dundurn publicity team to prepare for the January 5 release of Nobody Tell. Other than this, I’ll likely be tinkering at my keyboard when not enjoying the warm weather and putting my garden to bed. This is simply the best time of year!
Until next Saturday morning…
