07 Feb And That’s a Wrap
Are you watching the Olympics? Such a great way to break up February!
So, this past week I spent rereading Nobody Tell, now in PDF format and going through its last round of edits. After this read-through, a copy editor will be giving it one final read, looking for spelling and punctuation errors. I can’t lie – after finishing my review yesterday, I was happy to send it back, hoping not to see it again until Dundurn sends the author copies to me. I’ve been through the text so many times that I now believe it a complete dud, but this is the same with every book I’ve ever written. All perspective flies out the window after the tenth edit.
Needless to say, I haven’t gotten any writing in on the Hunter and Tate manuscript. This week, I’ll need to review and get back at it. But for today, a break from all things bookish.
A few other things this week. Yesterday, I drove to Coles Carlingwood to film a Tik Tok/Instagram promo with Shayne Kempton, who works in the store. He’s become a wonderful supporter of my books and wanted to talk about the recent Cold Mourning option with Sullivan Entertainment. I hope to have the video to share by next week. Anyhow, he told me that my books keep selling out, and he had two people ask for my latest that very morning. How inspiring is that? 🙂

I was also approached by Kelly MacNaull who spearheads Curling for a Cause. This is an annual fundraiser held at my club (9th year) and for the past few years, I’ve donated a couple of books along with a draw for someone to have their name in my next book. Last year, the draw raised $1100.00. I’ve agreed to help out again this year and look forward to receiving the name, always a surprise. Part of the fun is not telling the winner what role they’ll have in the book. Wa ha ha.
Well, time for a second cup of coffee before I head outside to shovel snow. This has been quite the cold, snowy winter, not unwelcome after the last unusually warm ones. It’s a good day to spend indoors watching the Olympics, reading, and baking something. I hope you also have a restful, rejuvenating day planned — have a great week!
