07 Dec And Still Making Merry
Another weekend has rolled around and we have snow on the ground. Not to add to your panic, but Christmas is under three weeks away …
So last Saturday, Don Butler and I spent six hours at the Hintonburg Artisan Christmas fair. Neither of us had sold books at one of these before and considered this a trial balloon. Sixty vendors selling a variety of stuff, like jam, crafts, art, you name it. We were the only crime fiction table. We managed decent sales but perhaps not enough to warrant six hours. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how many people stopped to say they’d read all my books. Here are Don and I — neither of us knew the other would be dressed in black — we look like a couple of cat burglars.
So for our sins, we’re back at another Christmas craft fair this Saturday at the Shenkman Centre, although we’ve recruited Amy Tector and John Delacourt to take over the table for the afternoon. Don and I will be there from 10:00 until 1:00 (which is the best crossover time to come if you want to catch all four of us). Details are in the poster below.
My writing week was a bit scattered. I spent a day working on stuff for Dundurn, got in some writing on my manuscript, edited the book coming out in the spring. I also attended the Capital Crime Writers Christmas dinner on Tuesday evening with my friend Carol. It was held at the Brittania Yacht Club, which is a lovely place to be. The guest speaker was a retired RCMP sergeant who spoke about fraud cases – very interesting yet sad at how many people have gotten duped and swindled out of money.
Next Saturday, I’ll be back at Chapters Rideau for a couple of hours (1:00 to 3:00) and that will wrap up my author gigs for the year. Only two chances left for you to come out and say hi, bring me a present, buy me a drink … ha ha. Seriously, it’s been a great year meeting so many people at all these events. If our paths haven’t crossed, stay tuned for more opportunities in 2025. I already have a couple of book clubs lined up and other pans in the fire.
Have a good week, everyone!
