A Special Week

A Special Week

Good Saturday morning! It promises to be another snowy, cold day here in Ottawa much like every day this past week. Just in time to put us in the Christmas spirit.

Last Saturday, Don Butler and I spent the morning selling our books at the Orleans Christmas Arts Market. John Delacourt and Mike Martin took over the table for the afternoon.  We were in a new location on the main level this year and turns out it was better to be downstairs (we had a table there last year), but we still met a lot of new readers and spend an enjoyable few hours. This was my last event of 2025. A special shout out to Nancy Reid, who came out to almost every signing to support me and the other Ottawa crime fiction authors.

So this week has been somewhat topsy turvy. I looked after my daughter’s corgi Trooper while she was busy delivering our first grandchild. You can imagine how excited/anxious/ thrilled we’ve been over the past week, ultimately delighted to welcome her baby girl into the world. I’ve not been able to concentrate on writing, but I’m okay with that! I’ve been holding off anyway on my latest manuscript as I waited for the Nobody Tell manuscript to boomerang back for me to have another look after my Dundurn editor Shannon looked at my edits, which I made after her round of suggested edits and comments. Anyhow, the file reappeared late yesterday afternoon, so I’ll be settling in for another read this week.

There’s also a matter of Christmas less than two weeks away. I’ve bought most of my gifts and started the baking, freezing it as I go along. We still need to get our tree and decorate the house, but all in good time. We’ll be hosting Christmas Eve dinner and have ten people coming — it’s such a special time of year to spend with family and friends.

As you can tell, I’m short on writing news this week, although I can tell you that a news release will be appearing soon … you’ll need to wait to find out why. After all, a little mystery is always a good thing 🙂

Stay warm, my friends, and have a lovely week.
