14 Mar A Quick Update
So I nearly forgot it was Saturday and time to catch up on my writing week. I’ve started working on a short story last evening and the world always slips away when I begin one of those. I begin out with a vague idea and the penning of the story takes on a life of its own. This one has my interest as I work out the plot in my head.
Three people came up to me Thursday evening at curling to tell me they’d heard me on CBC radio. I was surprised since I didn’t do an interview, but after a bit of research, realized Alan Neal had replayed part of the interview from when we released the anthology, A Capital Mystery. There is a call out for a second round of stories as Mike Martin is spearheading a second anthology of Ottawa stories. Here is a link to the interview from All in a Day.
I reread Nobody Tell one LAST time and that took most of the week. I found a couple of errors and made a few word substitutions, but nothing major. I’m so sick of editing the book that I told Ted I couldn’t possibly read it again. As in all the manuscripts I’ve written, I’ve lost all perspective on whether it’s any good or not. There are no more surprises.
I’ve also gotten going on the latest Hunter and Tate again, but this short story will likely consume my weekend. I’m ready to have this ‘palate cleanser’ before I buckle down again on the manuscript.
Nothing new to report on the publicity front except that the Kingston book club was in touch to confirm our Zoom call in a few weeks. They’re reading Cold Mourning and Butterfly Kills. When people ask me which book to start with, I recommend Cold Mourning or Blind Date.
I’m off for brunch in a few minutes and this will be a short blog post today. The weather outside is frightful but we still need to lead our lives. I’m dreaming lately of hotter days spent sitting in the back yard with a book and working in my garden. Not much longer…
