25 Oct A Fun Week
How about those Jays? It’s been an exciting run and not over yet! Ted and I watched the games all summer long, so we’re quite invested in the team and hoping they go all the way, despite the odds. One game down and three to go!
So a couple of things this week. At one of my store book signings in the summer, a reporter who writes for the Neighbours of the Glebe approached me about an interview. About a month ago, this took place and the article was released this week, however, it is not online and the magazine only goes to Glebe residents. My friend Fred, who lives in the neighbourhood, sent along photos of his copy. I was surprised to be on the cover!

Also this week on Wednesday evening, I had a Zoom call with the Terrace Bay Public Library. Several people had made the trip to the library, which is new and beautiful, and the link was also available online. Mary asked the questions and then opened the floor. It was wonderful to hear how much support my writing has in my old home town. A man who moved into our family home was in the audience as was a woman who grew up a few houses down on our street. A lovely evening all in all.
My Dundurn editor was in touch this week to talk timeline for the edits. She’s only now beginning to read the Nobody Tell manuscript (book 8 in the Stonechild series), and will send along first edits in a few weeks. We need to have it all wrapped up by January 14. Shannon and I worked together on the last couple of books in the series so it’s wonderful to have her alongside me on this project. No word on the cover yet, but I imagine that will be underway soon too.
As for my writing week, I didn’t make my goal of 30,000 words, although I am at 28,700. Sadly, one day of my work did not get saved or I would have been closer to the target. Luckily, I’d just written the chunk of a chapter so I was able to remember most of it.
So a fun morning ahead. Susan from CKCU radio station is having Jane’s Walk through Hintonburg and Wellington West to point our locations used in local authors’ books. She invited me and a number of fellow authors along for the hour and a half trek through our city streets. It’s a chilly morning (4 degrees C to start), but I’m bundling up and looking forward to seeing everybody and getting in some morning exercise. I’ll snap a few photos for next week.
Until then, have a good last week of October! See you back here next Saturday.
