18 Oct Recapping a Busy Week!
Happy crisp October morning to you. It’s been a busy, social kind of week with the release of A Capital Mystery, an anthology of short stories by Ottawa authors with all the stories set in and around Ottawa. The book has received terrific reviews and endorsements, including a shout out from best-selling author Louise Penny.

On Wednesday, Nancy Pawelek, Kathy MacLellan and I made our way to the CBC radio studio on Sparks Street to speak about the book and our stories on All in a Day with the wonderful host Alan Neal. You can listen to the 13 minute clip here

Thursday afternoon before the evening launch, a group of the anthology’s authors, plus the editors Mike Martin and Bernadette Cox, met Mayor Mark Sutcliffe in his office to present him with a copy of the book. We were warmly welcomed and had a lovely chat with the Mayor, who expressed strong support for this initiative and Ottawa authors.

And then there was the launch that evening downtown at Club Saw. The place was packed and books sold like hotcakes. Don Butler MC’d, Mike Martin welcomed everyone, we had two panels and several short readings by authors who’d contributed to the book. Lots of food, wine and mingling. All in all, it was a fun, happy event!

As for writing this week, I got in a bit but not as much as I would have liked. I’m over 26,000 words now and will aim for 30,000 by next Saturday. Check in to see if I make it 🙂 No word from the Dundurn editor yet – when she sends along her edits, that’ll slow down my writing. Lots of work ahead.
Time to get this day underway. I have a buddy with me named Trooper, and we might need a game of ball before anything else gets done. That stare is not going to let me escape.
