09 Sep September and My Blog Have Returned!
Hello everyone! I hope you’ve had a lovely summer and managed some relaxing days and nights. I thoroughly enjoyed the summer months, spending a week in Thunder Bay at the start of June visiting family and a few trips to friends’ cottages after that. Ottawa weather has been fabulous on the whole – only two tornado warnings – and my garden thrived.
I ended my last post in the spring with a photo from the book launch of Mayor Sutcliffe presenting me with a certificate from the city. Well, Thursday we ran into each other again at the Carp Harvest Festival dinner – bookends to the summer!
I’ve been busy on the writing front over the summer and finished the first draft of book three in the Hunter and Tate series. I went through two rounds of editing and the manuscript is now with four beta readers. I’ll be starting on the cover next while I await comments, although I’ve yet to confirm the title. I’m aiming to have this one out in the spring.
I’m also quite chuffed to report that Lakehead University Alum reached out for a profile interview in the summer for their fall edition. Turns out, I’m going to be on the cover! I also was part of a Zoom call interview on Thursday with questions about my writing that will be released around the time of the online magazine. I never in a million years would have thought this would happen when I was a student at LU all those years ago. I really am honoured.
A few other events on the horizon. I’ll be interviewing the marvellous Kathy Reichs as part of the Ottawa International Writers Festival on Monday, October 16. You can buy tickets and find more info through this link. Her new book is titled The Bone Hacker and we’ll find out more about it during the evening.
The following week, I’ll be speaking at the Canadian Authors Association meeting about my road to publication among other things. I’ve also been approached by four book clubs and will visit each of those over the next few months.
And finally in my summer news, Dundurn has released the last five books in the Stonechild and Rouleau series in audiobook format. This also meant revealing the last five new book covers, so here they are!
Until next Saturday — Have a great week!
After a meal well eaten at the Carp Harvest Dinner:-)
