Saturday Morning Catch Up

Saturday Morning Catch Up

It’s a crispy day out there. I’ve had my buddy Trooper all week so out walking early this morning before he heads home. Looking after/owning a dog gets one outdoors in all kinds of weather.

Two engagements this past week. The signing last Saturday at Coles Carlingwood went great. I met lots of people and sold to several new readers as well as a few friends who came by. Charlie Senack, editor of Kitchissippi Times stopped by for a chat and his photographer snapped some pics for a future interview. I also met Natalie MacLean, award-winning sommelier, whom I’ve watched on the afternoon Ottawa news giving wine selections. She’s written a book about her life titled Wine Witch on Fire and turns out we both publish with Dundurn. Here we are with our latest books – we both have signed copies at Coles if you’re looking for stocking stuffers 🙂

Thursday afternoon, I drove east to meet up with a book club that has been reading my books as they come out for several years and having me attend a meeting to discuss the latest. They’ve become friends and it’s always lovely to meet up. This time, they’d read When Last Seen and had some great questions and feedback. They’re hooked on the main characters and eager to find out what happens next ….

Also this week, Lakehead University posted a podcast interview they recorded during the summer to go along with the written article. You can view the video on YouTube  here. They also will be releasing shorter clips at some point.

I got quite a bit of writing in this week on book four. Book three, Fatal Harvest, is still with the proof reader and a couple of other authors, whom I’m hoping will give recommendations. I’m planning to keep writing this week and to do some housekeeping – trying to keep on top of bookkeeping for tax season. There’s always lots to do.

I have one more book-signing coming up before Christmas at Billings Bridge Coles on Saturday. December 9 from noon to 2:00 p.m. and will be there with Barbara Fradkin. This is a Crime Writers of Canada event.
