14 Oct Road Trip
Some fun events coming up this week, but first, let me tell you about the fun last week!
Oddly enough, we have the same anniversary date as our friends across the street, so this year, the four of us planned a road trip to celebrate. We drove across the border to White River Junction, Vermont where we spent a night at the very old, stately Coolidge Hotel and dined a town over in Hanover at Murphy’s on the Green – a great pub with excellent food. The next morning, back in the car to Cooperstown, New York. We stayed at another older establishment overlooking the lake before driving into town to eat at Toscana, a small, warm Italian resto. The next morning, we toured the Baseball Hall of Fame before setting out for Prince Edward County and Jackson’s Falls Country Inn in Milford – highly recommended for a getaway. Wine-touring took up most of Wednesday, followed by supper at the Cove in Westport and an evening at our friends’ cottage. It was whirlwind, jam-packed and a heck of a lot of fun!

We stopped in at Books on Main, a wonderful book shop with a fulsome crime fiction section, located in Bath, Ontario. Amanda greeted us warmly, and I hope to return for a signing one day soon.
Monday evening, I’ll be interviewing the amazing Kathy Reichs and talking about her latest book, The Bone Hacker as part of the Ottawa International Writers Festival. I’ve got my questions prepared and am ready for an interesting and memorable night.
Saturday, I’ll be guest author for two book clubs meeting at the new Granite Curling Club, another event that should be lots of fun!
And this week, my latest manuscript is with Allister Thompson for editing, and Laura Boyle has come up with a great book cover design that she’s currently tinkering with to get the colours right. I also refilled stock at three stores and ordered more books from the printer. I’ve done quite a bit of thinking about the next in the series and am ready to start the first chapter.
Things are chugging along 🙂
A busy week ahead … I’ll check in with updates next Saturday morning. Have a terrific week, everyone!
