Out and About

Out and About

What a difference a week makes (have I said this before?) It was a frigid -40C last Saturday and today we’re hovering above zero. Rain, ice and melting snow are making getting around the city tricky if not treacherous. It’s another fine day to stay indoors with a good book.

So I spent last weekend curling and we did a bit of alright with a 5-1 record and winning the second division. It’s taken me a few days to get back into the writing rhythm, but I’m getting there. I have to say though that a few days away from the keyboard always helps to clear the head.

I received interview questions from a couple of blog sites in advance of When Last Seen‘s release, and these took time to answer. I also got copies of When Last Seen to two reviewers and am seeking out more opportunities. There were a couple more reviews on NetGalley. Here are a few comments:

I enjoyed When Last Seen, which is an engaging read with some big twists, well, maybe not twists, more surprises and likeable characters. It is told from various points of view, giving the reader a wider perspective on events…

This story easily pulled me in and I finished the book pretty quick – you just wanted to find out what who why when and where. Highly recommend this mystery/thriller.

So, the comments continue to be encouraging.

Preparations for the When Last Seen launch are progressing. If you missed it, the launch will take place at Irene’s Pub on Bank Street on Sunday, April 30th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. I’m delighted to have Heather Williams, the audiobook narrator and CHEZ 106 evening host, coming out and I’ll be sure to introduce her. I’m going to stop by Irene’s at the end of the month to finalize last details. I still have to send out the invitation more widely, designed for me by my daughter, Julia, who has also agreed to introduce me this time around.

I ventured out on snowy Tuesday night to Perfect Books to attend Barbara Fradkin’s launch of Wreck Bay, latest in her Amanda Doucette series. There was a good turnout, and in addition to buying Barb’s book, I picked up three I’d ordered. Add this to one I ordered online and my haul will have me happy for a few weeks to come 🙂

So the week ahead, I plan to get going on the latest manuscript while also working on marketing. There’s always a lot to do and more that can be done, but this upcoming week looks quiet, so room to get organized. Should be some time to settle in for some reading along the way …
