Lots Going On

Lots Going On

It’s been a busy week on the writing front. Putting in a few long days.

When Last Seen is now final – all edits completed –  and it’s uploaded to Ingram, the site where libraries and bookstores order from. The book has also been posted on NetGalley, a site for reviewers and libraries, some media, to post and read reviews. So far, the cover has 35/35 likes and seven advance reviews. The reviews are all positive and some are quite wonderful. Here are a few quotes:

“This is an excellent police procedural, there are so many twists and turns, and I was totally wrong as to who was the guilty party and why they took the child. Loved the plot and subplots and the intertwining of relationships. I could barely put this book down, and am looking forward to reading more of Brenda Chapman’s books.”

“I don’t usually gravitate to mysteries, but this book changed my mind! What an engaging read from start to finish — there are several twists that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.”

“This book ticked all the boxes for me, I loved it! … The story pulled me in and didn’t let go.”

“I found I was completely enraptured and had a hard time walking away from the book without knowing what was going to happen next!”

“I highly recommend this book, along with the first in the series!”

So I’d say this is off to a great start!

I spent the latter part of the week reviewing Cold Mourning, believe it or not 🙂 Dundurn is reissuing all seven books in the series with new covers this spring along with the last five recorded as audiobooks. Anyhow, this is my chance to make some changes and correct any errors to the text, so I’m giving the book a good read-through. It’s a time-consuming process but one that I’m happy to take on.

Finally this week, I spent the first few days of the week writing my current manuscript, hitting the 20,000-word mark. I’m still working the plot out in my head, but liked the start as I reread it, and look forward to spending more concentrated time writing in a few weeks.

So today, back to editing Cold Mourning and reviewing an audiobook chapter of When Last Seen. Heather is making good progress on narrating the book as we aim for the April 1st distribution target. I’ve got other marketing stuff to do and hope to get to it in the early part of next week.

So much to do, so little time! Enjoy your weekend, everyone.
