Beavering Away

Beavering Away

Good Saturday morning! The days are clear and crisp after we experienced ‘snowmaggedon’ on Monday. Nearly 50 centimetres of snow fell, mostly during a two-hour period as we were waking up. A once in a hundred year event we were told, although with climate change, I wouldn’t bet on it taking another hundred years to happen again. I’ve been embracing hibernation this week with the plummeting temperatures.

I’ve also been busy but am having a hard time figuring out what exactly got accomplished. I worked on some publicity, including a zoom call Thursday evening with the Kitchissippi Times reporter as he finalizes the article for the February paper. I also had a Crime Writers of Canada board meeting , our first since the Christmas break. I continued taking the Amazon ad course, which took up a lot of time, and I worked on the audiobook with my narrator. I’m also making a Powerpoint presentation for a short story workshop I’ll be giving in March and am having fun working on that. So lots of little stuff going on that adds up to a lot.

In the evenings while watching television, I fiddle around with making book ads on my laptop. I watched another author presentation about these ads and she puts out about four a day … every day. I’m thinking once a week suits my personality more (being Canadian and not overly aggressive when it comes to selling) so please forgive me in advance. I’m trying to make mine humorous so there’s that 🙂  Here’s this week’s attempt, which seems to have worked as pre-sales on Amazon jumped after I put it out. So, I’ll keep going, hoping you can help spread the word too. Word of mouth is still king in marketing.

Have a good week and stay warm!
