Autumn Falls In

Autumn Falls In

Happy official first day of turning leaves. So far this month, we in the Ottawa Valley have been blessed with brilliant blue skies, warm days and crisp nights although that old sun is shining for fewer and fewer minutes each day.

I’ve had a quiet yet productive week. I finished reading Kathy Reichs’ first book Déjà Dead and am almost done her latest The Bone Hacker as I come up with questions to ask her on Monday, October 16th at the Ottawa International Writers Festival. You really should get a ticket and have a fun yet informative evening out … really…

A second beta reader gave me he feedback on my latest manuscript, which now has its title …. ta da … cue the music … Fatal Harvest. Laura Boyle is designing the cover and has gotten a start this week as I feed her information. This book has a real Ashton connection, so I suggest heading to the Ashton Pub for lunch to get a feel of the setting before the book release in the spring. Ted and I have made a few trips there already to scope out sites. I heartily recommend the clam chowder.

I received another book club invitation this week at a home in the far west end. They’re reading When Last Seen, so this will be my first book club visit to discuss that book. The hostess lives quite close to Rocky Point, a key location in the story. Let’s hope I got all my directions right 🙂 That makes five book club visits on the horizon!

I’m also lined up for an interview with a British publisher for her podcast the first Sunday in October. The toughest part is working out the time difference. We’re also using a program new to me called Podcastle – let’s hope no glitches.

And Don Butler and I are now confirmed to speak at the Cumberland Public Library on Sunday, November 12 from 2-3 p.m.!

Finally, in case you missed it, I blogged on 7 Criminal Minds this past Monday. The question had to do with my reading habits during vacation. I give a few author ideas if you’re looking for a good book.

I hope you enjoy this first autumn weekend and the week ahead. I’ll check in again next Saturday morning 🙂
