06 Apr April Update
Good morning, everyone! It’s been quite the blustery, snowy week in Ottawa, but temperatures are on the rise and some sunshine is in the forecast. Grey clouds are going to clear up …
First, I’d like to thank everyone who sent warm wishes and thumbs-up for my book news last week. I promise to keep you updated when I have more news — I’m suspecting things move at a glacial pace, but that’s only my supposition never having been in this position before. I can tell you though that plans are in the works for an eighth Stonechild and Rouleau book! I’ve spoken with the Dundurn publisher and will turn my attention to it once I’m finished the fourth Hunter and Tate, which I’m working on now. I had a pretty good writing week, now at 46,500 words. The shortest mysteries are 50,000 words, but the ones I write are between 80,000 and 90,000. So, still a ways to go, but the plots are progressing nicely and I have a way forward.
I received two June event invitations this week, both of which I accepted. Fellow author Don Butler kindly asked me to emcee the launch of his second book Norman’s Conquest at Perfect Books on Monday, June 3 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. All are welcome.
The Hintonburg Community Association invited me to take part in ArtsPark2024 on Saturday, June 15 in the Parkdale Park next to the Parkdale Market. The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m., and they’ll send a time slot for me closer to the date. I’ll keep everything updated on the main page of my website.
So, today I’m curling with my husband Ted, my daughter Julia and my son-in-law Robin in Curling for a Cause. This was an annual event up until the pandemic, and this is the first time back. The event is a fundraiser organized by Kelly MacNaull with Bill Duck riding shotgun, and this year, we’ll be raising money for the Cancer Society. As in past years, I’ll be raffling off a name in my next book as part of the fundraiser. I’ve been to every one since Kelly started this event – this is the seventh!
I hope you also have a wonderful weekend as the weather starts to turn and spring truly moves in to lighten our spirits.
