Launching Blind Date!

Launching Blind Date!

A pretty good week. The trucker convoy left the downtown, the swelling in my wrist subsided, and I got back working on my latest manuscript.

The details for my virtual Facebook live launch are firming up and I thank Quinn Carter for making the poster.

I also received my first review from Publishers Weekly and it’s a good one. Here are the highlights:

Blind Date is a taut, accomplished thriller. Lively pacing, a plausible plot, and crisp, forward-moving prose will attract a wide variety of thriller lovers. Mystery fans will be engrossed in trying to work out the identity of the bad guy (or is there more than one?) from a well-developed cast of likely characters, but Chapman’s skillful plotting— complete with numerous tantalizing red herrings—power the narrative, keeping readers guessing until the final page is turned. Ella and Hunter make a memorable pair, and readers will look forward to future installments of their adventures. This taut and well-written mystery/thriller will keep even the savviest amateur sleuths guessing up until the tale’s end.
On Thursday, I had the great pleasure of interviewing Kemptville author Lis Angus on Facebook live in advance of the release of her first suspense novel Not Your Child. The interview was part of a series introducing the Crime Writers of Canada authors in the Ottawa/Eastern Ontario region. Lis told me about her journey not only in writing the book but also weathering 81 rejections before finding a publisher. She continued to rework her manuscript, learning from the feedback, and strengthened the story along the way. The interview can be found here.
Tuesday, I made it downtown to Perfect Books to sign some copies of Cold Mourning and Shallow End purchased by a local book club that I’ll be visiting virtually at the end of March. Jim (owner) ordered copies of Blind Date so those in Ottawa can contact the store to reserve a copy. We’re planning a store signing soon and people will be able to get signed copies when this takes place, likely in March or early April.
I spent the week working through my latest manuscript, rewriting some bits and adding another 2000 words as I reviewed the text. I made chapter notes and a character list, so I’m getting organized! I’m liking this story and the characters and will have this second Hunter and Tate Mystery out in 2023 although a ton of work ahead whipping it into shape. The Blind Date audiobook is also over half -way taped and should be out in March/April. I’ll keep you updated.
So, lots going on, including Blind Date’s official availability on March 1st followed by the live virtual launch on March 15th at 7 p.m. EDT – the live event with Mary Jane Maffini will stream on my Facebook page.
Have a good weekend, everyone. Until next Saturday…
